THINGNESS

Energy connects everything –  whether it be utilitarian or purely visual, it’s all around us, ever present in our daily lives. With this in mind, the way I feel, observe and interact with my surroundings is revealing of a truth and a world that is constantly overlooked. The things that exist in our relational periphery are a form of energy, a living entity that we are a part of that guides, influences and reacts to itself.

In my work, I seek out relationships that imbue this energy and that engage with the familiar through visual simplification. My work becomes specific in its quest to reveal a universal energy by way of juxtaposing the intuitive creation of active textures and forms with the domestic human experience, thus exposing an echo of a higher understanding that transcends the physical. I want to challenge viewers to find, recognize and consider the connections and truths that are in their immediate surroundings.
